LYNCH TO LAUNCH 2011 PROGRAMME AT AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL

Multiple British Rallycross champion Tony Lynch is to launch his 2011 racing programme at the annual Autosport International Show in Birmingham this weekend.

Having finished second in the inaugural season of the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship, Westhoughton-based racer Tony will now return to the series aiming to go one better having agreed a major sponsorship deal with Lucas Oils for the 2011 campaign.

Tony’s Team Geriatric-run Suzuki Swift will now take pride of the place on the Lucas Oils stand (6555) for the duration of the Autosport International Show at the NEC, which is open to the public on 15-16 January.

As well as showing off his new look car, Tony will also be in action in The Fifth Gear Live Action Arena at the wheel of a Suzuki Swift run by the same Peter Gwynne Motorsport company which builds the cars used in the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship.

Tony will be joined in the Live Action Arena by 2010 rival Dave Bellerby, while reigning British Touring Car Champion Jason Plato is amongst the other star drivers who will be in action for fans throughout the weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to appearing at the Autosport International Show this weekend and am excited about the prospect of launching our challenge on the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship,” he said. “The car looks fantastic in the new livery we will be revealing at the NEC and I’ve got to thank Lucas Oils and all my sponsors for making it happen.

“Being asked to appear in the Live Action Arena to represent British Rallycross is an honour and it’s a good chance to get one over on Dave before the season starts!”

While Lucas Oils takes on primary sponsorship of the Team Geriatric programme for 2011, Tony is also benefitting from extensive backing from his local area, with Pemberton Tyres and Sign-Tec again providing associate sponsorship, and Procare, Delmo Salvage, Rye Motors, Appollon Music, Enfield Street Bakery and Bloor Homes pledging their support to Tony’s title challenge.

As part of its backing for the new season, Pemberton Tyres has arranged for Manchester-based film company Real to Reel to follow Tony’s activities at the show as part of a promotional video for its own 2011 motorsport involvement.

Tony’s car will be unveiled on Thursday 13 January on the first of two trade days before the show opens to the public for the weekend.
